Had a wonderful time in Oregon. We ended our last two nights in Portland here at the Nordic Inn. Stayed in room 23. This was cleaner than any of the more expensive ocean front condo’s and hotels along the coast. No dirty corners, vents all clean, A/C worked great. We met 3 different staff members and all were nice. Complimentary coffee, teas, fruit and pastry in the morning. They even offered to print my boarding passes. The complex is clean on the outside as well as inside. No trash, cigarette butts or weeds. Nicely painted.
Comfortable bed, upgraded linens and pillows.

The area is old. Railroad tracks, dive bars, cigarette smoke shack, and a bikini barrista right across the street, and they were pretty busy in the morning with the long lines of men in pick up trucks! I never once felt unsafe. I did not hear the train or traffic when I was in the room. It is close to the Airport and maybe half hour from the waterfalls. It is a bit of a drive to the city, but we knew that. I would stay here again next time I come to Portland! The money I saved, went toward my rental car. Sweet! The deposit I had to pay was no big deal, as they credited my card upon check out. If that is the way to guarantee to keep out undesirable behavior and protect the property than that is fine with me. More places should do that.
